Joyce Linehan

My name is Joyce Linehan. I am a misanthropic humanist, or a humanistic misanthrope. Take your pick. I didn't learn to drive until I was 28. It took me 14 years to get my BA and eight to get my MA (it would have been six, but I kept forgetting to file the graduation paperwork). I did not attend either graduation. I was on the guest list for my senior prom, because I booked a band I managed to play. My mother was Acadian and my father was Irish, so there's that. I attended Catholic schools for 12 years, but still turned out to be a secular Catholic. I am OFD (originally from Dorchester), where I live in a house next to the cemetery. I am an unabashed liberal, chair of the Boston Ward 17 Democratic Committee, and Elizabeth Warren's biggest fan. Ashmont Media was my company. I am very lucky, as I got to work with such great organizations in Boston as the ICA, ArtsEmerson, Boston Book Festival, and others. I also co-own, with Joe Pernice, Ashmont Records, which I'm pretty sure is the best record label in Dorchester, Massachusetts. But I could be wrong. Feel free to let me know. In early 2014, I made a very dramatic career change, and went to serve in the administration of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, a man I worked hard to help elect, and greatly admire. I did that until he was selected by President Biden to be the United States Secretary of Labor. Now I am taking some time to decide on my next chapter. I don't love Christmas, but I do love Christmas music. I worry a lot about the weather, and I am a lover of Mercy (my dog). Radio On!
